Top 7 Sad Moments from Harry Potter Movies

I remember when I first started reading Harry Potter it was like going into a new world. But, then the movies came out and I sank even further into the world. There were some differences, as there always are in Hollywood adaptations, but mostly they were acceptable. Oddly enough many of us started reading Harry potter at the same age as the characters in the book. And call it coincidence or planning, when the final books came out the age difference wasn’t really that great. So, in some cases we grew up with the whole series. The whole series had many things to teach us, but sadness was a part of it all. After all, the story grew progressively grim. While we wait apprehensively for new releases later this year, let us revisit some of the saddest parts from the movies.

The first truly sad occurrence was in the Chamber of Secrets when Hermione Granger gets petrified. And many a young heart came to the mouth in the first screening.

For me personally, one of the saddest parts from the franchise was from Prisoner of Azkaban, when after discovering that Harry could finally escape the abuse of his Muggle Caretakers and live with his Godfather, he couldn’t do so in the end. Somehow that stuck a deep cord within. Just the times they could have hand. But, it was never meant to be.

We may have mixed feeling about Robert Pattinson’s character in Twilight, but his performance as Cedric Diggory was excellent. It was this that made his death even more tragic. Contributing to the whole situation was the fact that he was the rightful champion of the tournament and at the epitome of his achievement as student he dies. The death wasn’t even out of some necessity, but he was killed off as an inconvenience.

He did not turn out to be the greatest of godfathers but there can be no doubt that he had great love for Harry. There were many things wrong with the fifth part, but the scene of his death was a masterpiece. He had a smile on his face as he fell through the veil. To many of us, it was the last trick played by Padfoot on the world.

If fans held back their tears, in all the above scenes, this was a place where people openly cried. Dumbledore is considered by many to be one of the most powerful, wise, and intellectual characters from the genre of fantasy fiction. He called the shots, often dealing with things using his intellect rather than his massive magical prowess. Only the book readers knew the true tragic nature of the death, as they also knew of his history from the books. In the end he sacrificed himself for the greater good a thing which he had been a proponent of since his earliest years.

The Deathly Hallow adaptations have many tragic deaths and we feel that there should be separate article on them. But, we have selected two of the most well remembered ones from it.

There hasn’t been a greater turnaround for a character than one by Snape. Although, in retrospect he could never really be called evil in all the books, but the fact is that we were most of the time reading through Harry’s perspective and due to it we were biased against him. Here is a love story that needs to be immortalized forever. His death was tragic on so many levels. After Dumbledore, he was the true last protector of Hogwarts, even though at the time everyone considered him to be evil. And his love for Lily transcended all boundaries, in turn protecting Harry.

This is the scene where the Hogwarts battle stalls and the dead are being accounted for. There were just so many characters that died. Fred, Lupin, Tonks, and the Creevy brothers were just a few of the well-known ones. It was gut wrenching and tissue paper boxes were emptied that day.

Let us observe a moment of silence for all the fallen in the Harry Potter series and a special one for Alan Rickman, who is with us no more.

Samsung Gear Fit 2 and Gear IconX revealed

Samsung is preparing two new products in its line of Gear accessories, according to a person testing the items: a sequel to its Gear Fit fitness tracking band, and a pair of cordless, Bluetooth earbuds. While a few features of the so-called Gear Fit 2 (above right) and Gear IconX (below) were revealed to VentureBeat, full specifications were not shared.

The Fit 2 (pictured below) is the premier followup to 2014’s Gear Fit, Samsung’s first dedicated fitness wristband, with a 1.84-inch curved Super AMOLED display. Said to be slightly more curved and ergonomic, the major addition to this 2016 version is a dedicated GPS chipset, which will improve the accuracy of its various distance-tracking features.

More exciting is the Gear IconX, whose branding was trademarked by Samsung earlier this year, but whose nature remained a mystery until now. Like German manufacturer Bragi’s Dash — along with a host of others launched in the past six months — these touch-controlled earbuds are completely wireless.

Dust and water resistant, and housed in a charging case, the IconX buds double as both a fitness tracker and a standalone digital music player. To perform this latter function, one of the buds contains 4GB of flash memory storage. Touch control is said to work similarly to the Gear Circle, another Bluetooth headset, but one whose earbuds are tethered to a controller that sits on the back of the neck.

The person who is testing the products did not say how much they would cost at release — dates for which were also not shared — but it’s unlikely that the Gear Fit 2 will be priced significantly differently than the first Fit’s initial $200 MSRP.

Arrow: Guggenheim Defends Flashbacks, Show Heads To Russia

Despite numerous complaints from fans about the Arrow flashbacks being tiresome and out of place, series creator Marc Guggenheim has stated that the Arrow flashbacks are here to stay. The island flashbacks were one of the many things responsible for Season 3 being the trainwreck that it was. Ask any Arrow fan and they would tell you that the flashbacks weren’t that enjoyable to begin with. However Marc Guggenheim strongly disagrees, stating that these flashbacks are part of what makes the show most appealing.

Speaking to Apnadesi he said: “The problem is that we are telling a five-year story in the flashbacks of Oliver becoming the guy you met in the pilot. So the deeper you get into the flashbacks, the closer he becomes to being that guy, and, thus, you lose that element of the flashbacks that was so interesting, which is how different he was…. That’s something we have struggled with this year.”

To be honest, the flashbacks back in Season 1 made a lot of sense. They told us about how the island made Oliver the vigilante that he is. They used to be a vital part of the show. Had the writers decided to skip the flashbacks, they would have had to rely on copious amounts of exposition to explain the plot. I don’t know about you but I personally hate it when writers use exposition as a plot device. I think we can all agree that the flashbacks in Season 1 were quite necessary to the plot.

Season 2 however, was where the flashbacks first started slipping. We could all see that the connection between the main plot and the flashbacks was a thin one. Yet, the writers decided to keep the flashbacks. As the main story unfolded in the show, the flashbacks seemed to be getting nowhere. I remember getting a strong urge to tear myself away from the TV everytime a flashback would appear. At this point, the writers should have foreseen what was coming…

Season 3 was where it all fell apart. Not only the flashbacks but the entire show. The flashbacks made no sense and had no connection to the show whatsoever. At this point, it was obvious that the flashbacks needed to go but here we are still braving through them to watch a decent show and they’re not making any more sense than they did in Season 3. Apart from the idol that gives Darhk the juice he needs, I see no other connection.

However, it looks the flashbacks do seem to be going somewhere this time around. Executive Producer Wendy Mericle stated that:

“I don’t want to tip too much, but it’s a very good possibility that we’ll finally find out how Oliver got that Bratva tattoo and how he learned to speak Russian.”

So at least we’re leaving Lian Yu this time around. Whether that actually has any kind of effect on the quality of these flashbacks remains yet to be seen. I’ve noticed that Taina speaks with a Russian accent. If she dies in the finale, her death could be one of the reasons Oliver heads to Russia and gets mixed up with the Bratva. If not, she’ll probably still be a strong motivational factor in Oliver’s trip to Russia.

Jane the Virgin Review: Parental Responsibilities

Jane the Virgin started off a theme of changing dynamics with parents, children, and responsibility with Mateo of all people starting off the tension. There has always been tension between Jane’s soon-to-be husband Michael and her baby daddy Rafael since the beginning of the series. How could there not be with the unbelievable way Mateo was conceived, as well as Jane’s choice to test the waters with Rafael as a result. Now that Jane and Michael are getting married, and Rafael has had two children with Petra, everyone has to adjust. Surprisingly, it’s not these bonds that need worrying about, it’s the one which is the strongest and collapsed under pressure last week.

Jane is putting her foot down when it comes to Xiomara’s behavior, which creates a rift so large between them that Michael is left to watch Mateo. Michael is the perfect babysitter, even adhering perfectly to Jane’s schedule. There’s just one little problem. After a few hours together, Mateo says his first word “Daddy”… to Michael. Rafael is not amused, but he does understand that Mateo is just a kid. It does make him aware of wanting to be more present in Mateo’s life, so he asks Jane for more time with their son out of the week. It also gets Michael thinking about his place in Mateo’s life. He wants to be a true stepfather to Mateo, to make a real contribution in his life.

Since Jane and Xiomara aren’t talking Rogelio has taken over Jane’s wedding plans, at the least the ones he hadn’t already taken over. As much as Jane wants to teach Xiomara a lesson, she is sad she can’t share wedding dress shopping with her mother. Rogelio, Michael, and Alba all try to help, but nothing seems to work.

Jane is distracting herself from her problems with Xiomara with her writing, which her advisor consistently hates. 1960s Salsa Jane makes an appearance as Jane’s muse, since she’s as romantic a character as it gets. Her advisor is less than thrilled, and with all that Jane is going through she doesn’t think before she lets her advisor have it for her negative attitude. That was a huge mistake given that her advisor is the one who decides if Jane continues in the graduate program next year. Jane gets one more chance to change her writing, but her advisor really isn’t going to be happy until all of the romance is gone from Jane’s novel completely. I’m really glad Jane didn’t take that deal, because otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten to see the treat of fantasy Salsa Jane dancing with Derek Hough! More to the point, Jane’s story includes her bond with her mother. It’s enough to get Jane back into the graduate program.

Unfortunately when Rogelio recreated the Villanueva house on his soundstage so that Michael and Jane could get married there, it got him in a little bit of trouble with the network executives. They didn’t approve of Rogelio using company resources for personal expenses, so Rogelio had to do a little on the spot word spinning to make them think the set would be used for his show. Since he has to spin this deal very quickly he goes to his old writer Dina and brings her on board not only for this impromptu episode, but he also gives her executive producer credits. Dina can’t get Rogelio to listen to one single idea after that since he is so focused on Jane and Xiomara’s rift. Luckily Dina is very intuitive and helps Rogelio understand that the ladies’s real problem is their fear of things changing. Rogelio uses the faux Villanueva house to shoot a real scene to display what’s going on between his two favorite women. He mends the rift between Xiomara and Jane, and Dina saves the day with the network executives. Rogelio and Dina see each other in different lights throughout this ordeal, and boy oh boy do sparks fly!

In the biggest shock of the season, Petra has a twin sister! It’s basically your average Annie story with twins and Miss Hannigan has an accent. Magda is unapologetic and tries to turn Petra’s sister Oleska against Petra. It doesn’t work, but Petra has a few things to work out with her newfound twin, such as the fact that pickpocketing is still illegal in America. While dealing with the shock of Petra’s twin, Rafael and Petra look forward to the sale of a local hotel they can buy to increase their revenue. They meet with the current owner and all seems hopeful. When she startles Petra’s twin and gets a slap in the face for her trouble, things start to go downhill. The owner is understanding, but she has another deal on the table. Knowing how much this means to Petra, Rafael chooses to use the dirty money he accidentally earned through illegal stock trading last week.

Was Jane and Xiomara’s separation unbearable to watch? Will Mateo get “Daddy” right? How much trouble will Petra’s twin bring?

NCIS: Los Angeles Review: Granger Danger…Times Two

Months after first teasing that the Assistant Director of NCIS could be a father, it is finally confirmed in this week’s Granger-centric episode. NCIS: Los Angeles picks up where it left off during the holidays with a father-daughter reunion not to be missed if only for all the political complications. Granger is reunited with his daughter in order to save her life, but was she willing to go that far for him?

NCIS responds to a surfer murdered on the beach whose name was on a list, dubbed the Hobbs list after the man smuggling in the agents, of foreign agents being picked off by a North Korean spy. The body hasn’t even gotten cold before Granger is already en route to Washington. Granger handles the transfer of Jennifer Kim, the North Korean spy who he first met at Christmas. On the plane Jennifer has a fun time needling Granger until the conversation turns serious. He doesn’t know her real name, or where her mother is, but he does know that the girl who calls herself Jennifer is his daughter. She has also known this her entire life. She explains how she ran away to “spy school” at the age of twelve after watching her mother at work in her government job for years. Granger has actually tried to see his daughter in the past, but Jennifer refused to see him growing up. It’s not that she hates Granger for abandoning her, it’s just that her mother and her training was enough for her.

Back in LA, Sam and Callen try to track the shooters while Kensi and Deeks track the movements of a spy named Han Choi, who is also on the Hobbs list. Unfortunately Choi is the one running the operation, not the one being targeted for termination. Their real target is Jennifer. Granger isn’t willing to risk his daughter’s life, so he and Jennifer decide to go dark on this one since NCIS still has a mole. They change their final destination en route without telling anyone. They are attacked upon arrival at Burbank Airport, and it is only the dire circumstances they are in which makes Granger trust Jennifer with a gun. She is after all still a North Korean spy. Jennifer is overpowered by one of men hunting her, but is able to stab him long enough for Granger to put him down. Father-daughter teamwork at its best.

Granger’s strange behavior does not go unnoticed. Eric finds it strange that Granger would escort Kim back to Los Angeles in the first place where a bunch of assassins are lying in wait. Everyone asks Granger, and then Hetty, for answers to no avail. When all is said and done Granger insists on taking Jennifer to the safehouse himself. Father and daughter take a walk on the beach and have a serious conversation about the future. She no longer wants to be in the spy game, but she’ll need her father’s help to do it. Granger wholeheartedly agrees to do whatever it takes to get Jennifer out safely, turn her into an American asset, and find Jennifer’s mother as well. You can tell by the look in her eyes it’s the first time in a long time she has felt safe, safe enough to tell her father her real name, Yujin.

Also in the episode, Callen mentions spending more time with Anna while Kensi and Deeks casually discuss ‘future’ wedding plans. Could we see an official proposal by the end of the season?

What did you think of the Granger-centric episode and the bond with his daughter?

Happy Birthday @channingtatum.can't wait to see you in #Kingsman.

Scorpion Review: Team Scorpion stops a potential Chernobyl sequel

Not to bring up the whole Doomsday thing, but in this week’s episode of Scorpion, the team will encounter their first nuclear explosion since the first Chernobyl if they can’t stop a decaying nuclear reactor from imploding. Wonder how many minutes the Doomsday Clock is going to move up should this happen in real life?

When the plane crash landed into the nuclear reactor building, I literally held my breath as I waited for the dust to clear. I know that Sylvester, Paige and Oksana were alright, but that crash landing made my heart beat a bit faster. I hoped that they would be getting out after some of the rubble has been removed, I guess it was not to be as Paige remained stuck inside after Sylvester and Oksana have been rescued. I held my breath yet again when Walter and Paige jumped off the building using an extension cable and a concrete chunk as weight to lessen the impact of the landing.

My Waige dreams almost came true in this episode during the scene where Paige shared her oxygen with Walter through a quick lip-lock. The almost being what happened toward the end of the episode. Happy talked some sense into the “I want to keep things professional” genius by convincing him to ask Paige to go to a jazz concert with him, yet Fate is not on Walter O’Brien’s side as Paige received a phone call from Tim. Way to kill the moment, Mr. Armstrong! I would also like to know what the flavour of each chocolate is in the box of chocolates that Tim sent Paige. I love chocolate as long as it’s not overly sweet to the point where I need to wash it down with some milk.

I enjoyed the moment where Agent Gallo threatened to pour his fish shake (as Paige called it) on Toby’s head if the shrink doesn’t save him a slice of pizza. Toby then gave the Homeland agent the entire box to avoid being doused in the foul-tasting drink. Never mess with Agent Gallo when he makes threats. It’s best to give the man what he wants.

The episode’s ending shocked me the most as the show reaches its second season finale.Toby takes Walter’s car, that the shrink dubbed the “company car”, to meet up with the man who made Happy’s engagement ring at the parking garage, to which it looked like something stuck on top of a nut, and ends up being knocked out by none other than Mark Collins. Wonder what he wants with Toby? I have a feeling that the season finale is going to be, dare I say it, legen…wait for it…dary!

Priyanka Chopra is having a great time in Hollywood. She’s doing Quantico and the Rock movie Baywatch. Can PeeCee’s Hollywood outing get any cooler? Well, here’s the answer.

Scarlett Johansson voices the iconic character ‘Kaa’ in the English version of The Jungle Book and filling in her boots for the Hindi version is Piggy Chops.

Jungle Jungle Baat Chali Hai | The Jungle Book Legendary Song

Lyrics by Gulzar
Music by Vishal Bhardwaj
Singers: Jia Wadkar, Yuvika Chaudhury, Abhirup Dass, Vatsala Mishra, Shaksham Karia, Rashi Salil Harmalkar, Avishkar Yogesh Khot and Oushnik Majumdar.

Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. But Mowgli finds he is no longer welcome in the jungle when fearsome tiger Shere Khan (voice of Nana Patekar), who bears the scars of Man, promises to eliminate what he sees as a threat. Urged to abandon the only home he’s ever known, Mowgli embarks on a captivating journey of self-discovery, guided by panther-turned-stern mentor Bagheera (voice of Om Puri), and the free-spirited bear Baloo (voice of Irrfan Khan). Along the way, Mowgli encounters jungle creatures who don’t exactly have his best interests at heart, including Kaa (voice of Priyanka Chopra), a python whose seductive voice and gaze hypnotizes the man-cub, and the smooth-talking King Louie (voice of Bugs Bhargava), who tries to coerce Mowgli into giving up the secret to the elusive and deadly red flower: fire. The all-star cast also includes Shefali Shah as the voice of the fiercely protective mother wolf Raksha, and Rajesh Khattar as the voice of wolf pack’s alpha male Akela. “The Jungle Book” seamlessly blends live-action with photorealistic CGI animals and environments, using up-to-the-minute technology and storytelling techniques to immerse audiences in an enchanting and lush world.
